Buterin believes the technology could validate the Ethereum blockchain in small devices like smartwatches, increasing the potential for widespread participation in the network.

Stateless verification, in particular, eliminates the need for nodes to store all blockchain data. Instead, each block includes a “witness” that contains the necessary data and cryptographic evidence needed to validate the block.
